Bella Tucker is an 8-year-old girl who is going through what no little girl should ever have to. Due to a massive infection that nearly took her life, Bella is lucky to be alive — but at great cost. Doctors were able to save her life, but due to extensive tissue damage, Bella underwent quadruple amputation surgery and is facing an extremely long and difficult recovery. more
Centre Avenue Elementary Animal Walk-A-Thon held on Friday May 28.  The students, and staff dressed as  varoius animals and walked around the school yard to demonstrate their support for the Kerulos Center. The center was first established for the conservation of abused elephants. more

East Rockaway School District officials have been able to shave $113,000 from their original proposed budget of $33, 450, 435 that was voted down by residents on May 18 with a vote of 624-597. more
If we learned anything from last week’s elections, it’s that voters have become a lot smarter than we give them credit for. The May 18 primaries were just the first round of tests for many influential incumbents, and several big names flopped at the polls. more
Last week, 92 percent of Long Island school budgets won public approval. Aware of the public’s anger over rising taxes, most districts held their growth down to between 2 and 4 percent. Thankfully, the voters didn’t punish the children. more
