The time to put on your dancing shoes is almost here. The Centennial Dinner Dance is less than two weeks away – an event that organizers say will get you tapping and twirling in your finest fashions.

There will be various types of music, food catered by Elks Lodge and a program reflecting on the village’s history to celebrate 100 years of Lynbrook. For added excitement, there will be some unexpected surprises, said Carol Burak, member of the village’s centennial committee. “People have been working on the Centennial celebration for two years to plan events,” Burak said. “The dinner dance falls almost exactly 100 years to the date that the village was incorporated. I am very excited.”

Event committee members including Burak, Keg Smith, Jay and Grace Korth, among others, have been working hard to plan the upcoming dance. They inquired and searched for a number of places before deciding on the chosen venue, Elks Lodge within the village. With the help of Mayor Bill Hendrick, Centennial celebration chairperson, and the village’s recreation department, the event will feature “fun dining and good music,” Burak added.

Commomerative journals detailing the village’s 100-year history will be given out during the night. Burak said the community has been very supportive of the centennial events so far. And organizers are hoping for a big turnout of about 125 people.
