Lynbrook's Michael Ryder new Lawrence administrator

The Lawrence Board of Trustees have unanimously voted to appoint Lynbrook resident Michael Ryder as their new building department superintendent, said Lawrence Village Administrator David Smollett.

“Mr. Ryder will oversee all the building department operations including permits, inspections, building and zoning code interpretation and enforcement. We are excited to have him join the village of Lawrence family.”

Ryder has over twelve years experience as a building inspector, seven of which he served as Building Department Superintendent for the Village’s of Lynbrook and Massapequa Park. During that time, he also served as Secretary and Building Code Consultant to the Board of Zoning Appeals and Architectural Review Board.

Ryder was instrumental in developing and executing the Illegal Over-Occupancy Code in the Village of Lynbrook, Smollett said, and, due to this code’s overwhelming success, several vllages have adopted this cde as their own.

Ryder’s experience brings many certifications, including New York State Certified Code Enforcement Inspector, Certification in

Construction Management, New York State Building Officials Professional Code Administrator, Nassau County Code Enforcement Title and Nassau County Building Inspector Title.

Currently, Ryder is the second vice president of the Building Inspectors Association of Nassau County and served as its secretary for two years.

Ryder and his wife, Laura, have two children, Shannon and Aidan. He founded the Lynbrook Youth Flag Football League and presently serves head coach with the Valley Stream Green Hornets Football Program and assistant coach with the Lynbrook Lacrosse Program.

Michael will begin his new position on Feb. 1.
