Police seek the public’s help identifying a man who threw a firecracker into an Elmont 7-Eleven

Nassau police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who threw a firework into 7-Eleven in Elmont at 11:33 p.m. on May 29.

The man the store, located at 254 Elmont Road, and lit a single firework before throwing it into the store Wednesday night, according to police.

The explosion damaged store shelves and merchandise. The Elmont Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames and no injuries were reported.

The man is described as Black, with a slight build that wore all dark clothing and a face mask. Two other men at the store were also described as to have worn all dark clothing. Police said the group ran west on Hoffman Avenue away from the store.

Police are asking anyone who can identify these people or with any information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at (800)-244-TIPS or 911. All calls remain confidential.
