Feeding the community for Thanksgiving

Among the many donations that were made by myriad Five Towns organizations and institutions to help feed people for Thanksgiving, the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence opened its doors for four hours on Nov. 21 and feed kids, teens and older adults a holiday meal.

Buy holiday items, fix the church windows

To raise the remaining $50,000 of the $100,000 that is needed to restore three large round stained glass windows at St. Joseph R.C. Church at 1250 Broadway in Hewlett, the Father Farrell Knights of Columbus Council 5962 will be selling Christmas trees, wreaths and poinsettias through the holiday season after each Sunday mass.

Opening the doors of HAFTR

More than 150 students and their parents attended the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR) open house on Nov. 15, where the high school class of 2020 and more than 70 families from other neighborhood schools learned more about educational opportunities in general and Judaic studies at the modern Orthodox yeshiva in Cedarhurst.
