Maneuvering through the narrow streets of the Five Towns is difficult as vehicles are parked on both sides and in most cases there is two-way traffic. Adding to this problem is an increase of volume at certain times of the day.

Kathleen Anderson’s office at the Woodmere Education Center smelled of roses last Friday, as the assistant superintendent for Human Resources & Student Services for the Hewlett-Woodmere School District, received several bouquets of flowers to congratulate her on her retirement.

With limited free time to begin with, one would expect teens to use it hanging out with friends or surfing the Internet. However, Hewlett High School juniors Hannah Burkhart and Adam Farber are using their leisure time wisely and have made it their mission to go out of their way to give back to the community and help others in need.

For the second time in less than a month, the names of Hewlett High School students were announced by officials of the Siemens Math, Science and Technology Competition as the regional finalist team of Priyanka Wadgaonkar, Zainab Mahmood, and JiaWen Pei won the team category at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh last weekend.
