The rainy weather didn’t cooperate as much as Sunday got off to a slow start and Community Chest South Shore officials cancelled Monday, but the 33rd annual Community Chest fair at Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park in the village provided fun for many as children rode the rides, kids and adults played games, ate food, including ice cream at the fair, even on Saturday. more

Reducing the damage to the South Shore’s back bays in Nassau County is the goal of a plan that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers aims to recommend to Congress in 2020. A preliminary report is scheduled to be completed in a year, and public comment is being collected. The final report is expected to be complete in roughly three years. more
