Brooklyn man arrested for Inwood elder scam and grand larceny

Darren Saunders of Brooklyn was arrested on three charges for elder scam and grand larceny on Oct. 2, Nassau police said.

At 9:45 a.m., Saunders allegedly called a 73-year-old Inwood woman, claiming to work for her bank’s fraud department. He allegedly told her, there were fraudulent charges on her card and he would arrange for someone to pick up the card from her, according to police.

The woman called police to report the alleged scam, police said.

Police placed Saunders under arrest without incident. He was allegedly in possession of a fraudulent drivers license and credit card.

Saunders will be arraigned in Hempstead on Oct. 3.
