Inwood resident Shamel Medley arrested for alleged thefts in Cedarhurst and Woodmere

An Inwood man was arrested in Woodmere at 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 2, for allegedly stealing from vehicles in Cedarhurst and Woodmere, Nassau police said.

Shamel Medley, 20, of Bayview Avenue, was found on Barnard Avenue and Emerson Street in Woodmere in possession of  proceeds allegedly belonging to a nearby car theft, according to police. He was with a person identified by police as a “male juvenile,” who police said was recognized through video footage.

Medley was charged with two counts of grand larceny, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property and identity theft. The male juvenile was charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

Both were to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 3.
