Cedarhurst-based One Israel Fund honors 12 volunteers at 25th gala

Cedarhurst-based One Israel Fund celebrates its 25 years of helping residents in Judea, Samaria, the Jordan Valley and other areas across Israel with an anniversary gala dinner at the new TWA Hotel on Idlewild Drive at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Feb. 9.

Dr. Emma Laskin-Baum and Bart Baum, of Great Neck,  are this year’s Guests of Honor and Amichai Lourie, winemaker of the award-winning Shiloh Winery will be honored with the Boneh Yisrael (Builder of Israel) Award. The Grob, Oppenheimer, and Pollack families of the Five Towns and Queens are accepting the Dor L’Dor (Generation-to-Generation) Award in memory of their parents and grandparents, Gloria & Morris Grob OBM.

Rebeka and Gabriel Boxer, also known as the Kosher Guru, will be honored with the Keter Shem Tov Award and five Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls juniors — Hannah Lewin, Talia Loskove, Molly Sigman, Isabella Weisfeld and Arielle Yarmish — will receive the Yedid Yesha (Friends of Judea and Samaria) Award. Television host and bestselling author Rita Cosby, the daughter of a World War II prisoner of war will emcee.

Since 1994, One Israel Fund has raised more than $65 million and supplied preventive security camera systems, trained first responders, provided medical facilities and equipment, built integral community fixtures including playgrounds and community centers and continue to do so. Presently, money is being raised to build a state-of-the-art medical center in the Binyamin Region of Samaria as well as to fund several other security devices and apparatuses and facilities to improve the lives of more than 460,000 people.
