Cedarhurst declares an amnesty for parking violations

Pay half until Dec. 31

The Village of Cedarhurst has instituted an amnesty program for parking violations until Dec. 31.

The program includes parking violations issued in the village before Jan. 1, 2016, but doesn’t include moving violations. “This program was designed not only to help persons clear their overdue accounts concerning our Village but also to offer them a distinct financial advantage in doing so,” Mayor Benjamin Weinstock said in a prepared release.

Fines and penalties will be cut by half and can be paid for with cash, check or major credit cards. Not American Express. The reduced amount must be paid in full, as well as any outstanding parking violations.

To take advantage of the amnesty program a person must show up in person at Village Hall at 200 Cedarhurst Ave., Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

For more information and to learn if you are eligible for amnesty, call Village Court at (516) 295-5522. Failing to pay parking violations can result in the suspension of your license or registration.
