A pumpkin patch, painted faces, stuffed scarecrows and blacksmithing were just a few of the things that entertained the many visitors to the two-day Rock Hall Country Fair last weekend.
The 30th annual event at the 18th century plantation house turned Town of Hempstead museum in Lawrence brought history alive with live demonstration of wampum making, basket weaving, broom making, carpentry/white coppering and tinsmithing.
On Saturday and Sunday, there was also a petting zoo, colonial historians, line dancing lessons from Pat Cannon’s Foot & Fiddle Dance Company and bluegrass music performed by the Bob Stump band, along with pony rides, craft vendors, antique cars and food. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of Rock Hall.
