A man was shot and killed while trying to escape an abduction in Woodmere early Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said. Police have not released the identity of the victim and are still searching for the two kidnappers, who are believed to be armed and in their mid-20s.

The victim and another man, who police said were both in their early 20s, were accosted around 1:40 a.m. outside the South End Avenue home of the victim's parents. The suspects forced the victims into the home at gunpoint and partially bound one of them.

The suspects then forced both victims into the rear seat of the homeowner's vehicle, a black 2004 Infiniti sedan, and began to drive away. Police said the unrestrained victim managed to escape from the moving car and flee. The second victim attempted to escape shortly thereafter, when the car turned onto Andover Avenue, and was shot in the chest.

The suspects fled in the vehicle as the wounded victim ran through backyards and over fences until he reached the rear patio of a house on Andover Avenue, where he banged on the door and collapsed. The homeowners called 911.

The victim was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 10:45 a.m.

Police said the suspects' whereabouts were unknown and the vehicle, with license plate DYM-2184, had not been recovered.

Police would not say whether the

victims were targeted or if they knew the

kidnappers.

One suspect was described as a 5-foot-6 black man in his mid-20s with brown skin, corn-rowed black hair, thick eyebrows and a mustache and goatee. He was said to be wearing a black T-shirt and red shorts, and was armed with a small handgun.

The other suspect was described as a 6-foot-2, clean-shaven black man with a dark complexion, in his mid-20s. Police said he was wearing a black do-rag and dark baggy jeans and was armed with a handgun. He was also wearing a red and white shirt, or two layered shirts, one white, the other red.

Police request that anyone with information about the incident call Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous.
