Five Towns Community Chest raised approximately $50,000 through its Neighbors in Need fundraiser that was attended by more than 150 people at the Woodmere Club on Nov. 20.
The donations are going right to work as Woodmere-based Community Chest has purchased more than 160 KeyFood supermarket gift cards and 164 turkeys that will be distributed to those in need.
In addition, the money will also benefit families that are enduring difficult times. Community Chest will reach out to their service agencies to seek out those people.
At the fundraiser coordinated by Cori Berke and Diane Rattner, United Way of
Long Island CEO Theresa Regnante spoke and Woodmere native Harrison Greenbaum performed his brand of stand-up comedy.
