About 50 children received backpacks filled with schools supplies and families ate a barbecue lunch supplied by Applebee’s and listened to the mixes of DJKIDD at the Inwood/Back to School Day Backpack Giveaway at the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence last Saturday.

The three-hour event was co-hosted by County Legislator Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) in conjunction with sponsors Green Acres Mall, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Healthfirst, Affinity Healthcare, Fidelis Care, Apple Bank, State Sen. Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) Kiwanis Club of the Five Towns and the Elmont Ladies Auxiliary.
