The award is given to the robotics team judged to be the best in performing community outreach regarding robotics and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math); and creating more awareness  about  the robotics team, robitics in general and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Bionica team members run a Girls Who Code club, sold their own how to code book, manned a booth at the annual Arts Below Sunrise festival that is sponsored by multiple community organizations in Hewlett and Woodmere and across the Five Towns. The girls kibbitz that the team is comprised of “9 builders, 3 programmers, 2 businesswomen, 1 artist, and a partridge in a pear tree.”

Next up for Bionica is a competition at the Long Island School for the Gifted in Huntington Station on Feb. 1 and 2.
