Woodsburgh village resident David Friedman, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to be the U.S. ambassador to Israel, lit the menorah in Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park on the second night of Hanukkah last Saturday.
This is the 15th year that Friedman, an active member of the Orthodox Jewish community, has done the honors as part of the Chabad of the Five Towns annual grand menorah lighting — its 25-feet high — during the eight-day Festival of Lights holiday.
Every night’s lighting includes an honoree and singing and dancing and hot latkes and gifts for the children.
