Get kids involved in basketball, parents join the Lawrence PTO

Inwood resident Ilyassha Shivers is once again organizing a basketball program for children in grades fourth through eighth with registration to get under way on Thursday, Feb. 29 at Lawrence Middle School, 195 Broadway, Lawrence.

The hoops program will take place on Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m., he said, adding that registration will also be held at the middle school production of "Shrek Jr.," on March 6 and 7. Those shows are at 7 p.m.

There will be seven sessions — one clinic week then six weeks of basketball — includes shirts and end of session celebration for $100.  Volunteers are also needed. Call Shivers at (516) 603-4615.  

He is also also president of the newly created Lawrence Middle School Parent Teacher-Organization that will hold a Bingo Night on Feb. 29 at 6 p.m., also at the middle school.

Tickets: $3 per one. $5 for two. Music, raffles and prizes.
