Midreshet Shalhevet High School’s student poets took part in the Rae Kushner High School poetry slam. On their way to the New Jersey school, MSH’s poets prepared for their second slam of the school year, practicing and making revisions.

When the students from the North Woodmere school arrived they were ready. The group was split between two rooms with students from the other participating yeshivas. After the first round of competition was over, the teams reconvened, comparing and commenting on the poetry.

The final round began and MSH senior Avital Hochster and sophomore Leah Cohen were both called up to read their poems. Hochster was one of the five winners of the slam. The students said it was a great experience and added that the team is excited for the next slam.
