Theodore Rosen,

dies at 87

Longtime Five Towns resident and native of Brooklyn, Theodore Rosen, died in his Woodmere home on Nov. 29. He was 87.

Born in Kings County, Rosen became a dentist and had a practice in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. He married his wife Eleanor on July 5, 1948. They lived in Woodmere for 58 years.

Rosen was a congregant at Temple Beth El in Cedarhurst, was a member of the New York State Dental Society and a lifetime member of the Second District Dental Society of New York State.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanore, his children and their spouses Gary and Cookie Rosen, Les and Lauren Rosen and Jamie and Mimi Rosen, grandchildren Ashley, Erica, Craig, Jason, Alison, Meryl, Dana and Jessica and great grandchildren Aidan and Madye.

A funeral service was conducted by Rabbi Stern at Boulevard-Riverside Chapel in Hewlett on Dec. 1. He was interred at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon.

Antonio E. Oliviero Sr.,

dies at 77

A 57-year resident of Inwood, Antonio E. Oliviero Sr. died at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola on Nov. 20.

Born in Prado in the Avellini Province of Italy, Oliviero came here as a 20-year-old and began his still existing business, “Tony’s Shoe Repair,” that is located opposite the Inwood firehouse on Doughty Boulevard.

He is survived by wife Raffaela (nee Miele), daughters Grazia Senatore and her husband Michael (North Woodmere), Bianca Mackey and her husband John (Holmdel, NJ) and son Dr. Antonio E. Oliviero Jr., a dentist, whose joint practice is called “Dentists on Broadway,” in Lynbrook, and his wife Maria (Hewlett). Ten grandchildren, a sister, Bianca Girardi and two brothers Robert and Augusto.

The Rev. Joseph Lynch, who was a dear friend, conducted the funeral mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Inwood. Entombment was at Holy Rood R.C. Cemetery in Westbury.

Thelma K. Jablons,

dies at 84

A 52-year resident of Woodmere, Thelma K. Jablons died at her Woodmere Boulevard home on Nov. 20. She was 84.

Known as “Teddy” to her family and friends, Jablons was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved life and people, and forged many long-lasting relationships as a Five Towns community member.

She was a great patron of Peninsula Public Library and a member of the United Order of True Sisters, an organization considered to be the oldest women’s philanthropic group in the nation.

Born in Rochester but raised in Manhattan, she graduated from New York University and worked in a New York City medical office and for the Arthur Kaplan Advertising Agency, which was also in Manhattan. In 1956, to Joel Jablons, the couple had two sons.

Jablons is survived by her husband Joel, her sons Jerome and wife Valerie, David and his wife Lori and their son Maxwell.

A funeral service was presided over by Rabbi Ginsberg at Riverside Memorial in Hewlett on Nov. 23. Jablons was interred at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Queens.
