In a roughly 43,000-square-foot space that formerly housed Bed, Bath & Beyond and H&M stores at 345 Rockaway Tpke. in Lawrence at the outdoor Bay Harbour Mall a Target opened on Sunday as what is called new small-format store.
The store is designed for dense suburban areas where a traditional Target would not fit, according to company officials. Nealy a third the size of a traditional Target it still boasts many of the same items found at the full-sized stores from clothing, health and beauty products, groceries and home décor, and the Lawrence store boast a Starbucks.
Target officials said that the small-format stores have merchandise that is selected specifically for the community.
Store hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday. 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and on Tuesday 7 to 8 a.m. is reserved for what Target calls “vulnerable guests.”
