More than $2,600 was raised to support Kamp Kiwanis and Camp Anchor through a barbecue sponsored by the Peninsula Kiwanis and hosted by member Bill Dubin at his home on July 29.

Approximately 140 attended the event, including members of East Rockaway, Valley Stream, Oceanside and Island Park Kiwanis clubs. Both camps serve special needs and underprivileged children.

This summer the Peninsula Kiwanis sent 27 children to Kamp Kiwanis. Previously, the organization fundraised to build the infirmary at Kamp Kiwanis that cost more than $50,000.

Donations for next year’s campers should be sent to Peninsula Kiwanis, P.O. Box 301, Hewlett, NY 115557.
