Hewlett High School was the place that most likely ignited dreams of professional success, and last Sunday it was the venue were seven alums were feted for the contributions they have made in their respective professions.

Dr. Amy Dukoff, class of 1974; Eric D. Baum and Keith Gutstein both from the class of 1989; David Berson and Saul Blinkoff, both from the class of 1990; Carla Sosenko, class of 1994; and Craig Weintraub, class of 1999, were inducted into the Hewlett-Woodmere Alumni Association Hall of Fame at a ceremony on April 30.

Dukoff is the holder of an international patent for a method of stem cell preparation and tissue regeneration. Baum is the director of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Yale University School of Medicine. Gutstein practices labor and employment law and is on the board for the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in Glen Cove.

Berson is president of CBS Sports and spoke fondly of playing sports in Hewlett. Blinkoff is a film director and consultant for animation studios across the globe. Sosenko is executive editor of Entertainment Weekly and Weintraub, an actor, producer, director and screenwriter, created The Long Beach International Film Festival.
