A security guard halted a robbery at the King Kullen on Peninsula Boulevard in Hewlett at 3:37 p.m. on Feb. 24.
An unidentified man collected several items and tried to pass all points of purchase to leave the supermarket without paying, Nassau police said.
That is when the security guard intervened and a physical altercation occurred that resulted in the alleged thief dropped the merchandise and left the store. No one was hurt, according to police.
The man is described as black, 45 to 50-years-old, 5-feet, 6-inches tall weighing roughly 160 pounds. He was wearing a black beanie, black jackets, black pants and black shoes.
