Nassau police rescued two kayakers near Jones Beach on July 30.

Two men were rescued by Nassau County Marine Police after encountering strong winds and currents while kayaking near Jones Beach on July 30. The incident occurred at around 6:40 p.m.
According to police, the men launched their kayaks from Jones Beach Field 10 and decided to turn around in the Great Island Channel near the Second Wantagh Bridge. They quickly realized they couldn't handle the conditions and called 911. Marine 6 responded, locating the kayakers and safely transporting them and their kayaks back to shore.
No injuries were reported, and officials are reminding the public to consider weather and water conditions before operating small or personal watercraft.
