Two North Merrick men arrested for Uniondale incident

Two North Merrick men were arrested for an alleged incident in Uniondale on Sept. 17 at 2 a.m., according to Nassau police.

James Luca, 46, and Jayson Anthony Reyes, 25, allegedly placed propane tanks around the Social Services building at 60 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale, according to police. Police said they then allegedly threw lit flares towards the tanks and fled the area.

After an investigation, police arrested Luca and Reyes on Oct. 3 in connection with the alleged incident.

The two men were charged with attempted arson, criminal possession of a weapon, conspiracy, and obstruction of governmental duties by means of a bomb.

They will both be arraigned on Oct. 4 at First District Court in Hempstead.
