Woodmere resident brings cheer to children at South Nassau Communities Hospital

Gittel Siegel, of Woodmere, acted on the words of writer Steve Maraboli — “A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal” — when she visited South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside on Aug. 21.

With help from her mother, Jennifer Siegel, Gittel delivered 18 colorfully wrapped gift baskets to cheer up and brighten the outlook for the young patients in the hospital’s pediatric unit.

In addition to a fleece blanket and toys, each basket included a get well card created by Gittel and her friends.
