Naresh Singh, 21, of North Baldwin, was arrested after he tried to outrun a New York State Police officer while driving his Nissan on June 20, at 11:12 p.m. According to police, the officer was attempting to stop Singh for speeding — he was going 91 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone — on the Southern State Parkway, near exit 15 (Corona Avenue).

Singh exited the parkway and turned three times, in an attempt to outrun the officer, then made a U-turn and struck the police vehicle. The officer, whose vehicle was disabled due to the accident, then contacted the Nassau County Police Department, who located Singh in Franklin Square shortly thereafter and arrested him.

Singh was charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the third degree and Reckless Endangerment in the second degree (both misdemeanors), as well as Leaving the Scene of an Accident and several other traffic violations.
