Jessica DelGrosso, a sixth grader at the John Street School, recently won a “Teacher Appreciation” essay contest, which was conducted by the office of Dr. Steven Boral, at 380 Dogwood Ave. in Franklin Square.

Students submitted essays about their favorite educators, and DelGrosso wrote about John Street teacher Ms. Psaros.

DelGrosso won a pizza party for her entire class, as well as cookies and juice boxes. Additionally, the class received goodie bags, including a toothbrush, toothpaste and stickers. Psaros received a summer tote bag filled with beach essentials, chocolates and a T-shirt displaying her favorite baseball, the Mets.
