Sewanhaka High School announces new mascot as the Ravens

The Sewanhaka High School turf field, redone in 2015, featured the school's longtime mascot whose depiction has become an increasingly offensive image to Native Americans. The Sewanhaka Central High School District announced during its education board meeting on May 28 that the school's new mascot will be the Ravens.

Sewanhaka High School alumni shall flock home to their alma mater as the recently proclaimed Ravens.
The announcement made during the May 28 Sewanhaka Central High School District education board meeting was met with much excitement and applause.
The year-long process to rebrand the school's former mascot, the Indians, included mascot committee meetings, a Jostens rebranding survey, polls, and a vote that included students, alumni, faculty, staff, teachers and coaches.
The official logo is undergoind final touchups and will be ready for the fall sports season on the football and soccer field.
