Snow storm means service changes on Long Island Rail Road

Posted

In anticipation of the blizzard expected to hit New York on Wednesday, Feb. 10, the Long Island Rail Road released its winter storm operating plan, which includes changes to and temporary suspensions of service.

For those looking to leave work early on Wednesday, the LIRR will add 13 eastbound early-afternoon trains from Penn Station between 12:55 p.m. and 3:48 p.m., but in areas where snow accumulation reaches between 10 and 13 inches, service will be suspended for snow removal. During Wednesday's evening rush hour, there will be service reductions as 22 eastbound trains -- 17 out of Penn Station and 5 out of Atlantic Terminal -- are canceled or combined.
