Students in Oceanside High School’s AP Research program transformed their academic work into community action this spring, organizing donation drives that supported local families through Catholic Charities of Long Island and breast cancer survivors through Catholic Health. The newly created AP Research Outreach Program allowed students to apply research, communication and leadership skills while making a tangible impact across Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The Island Park Public Library is beginning a new chapter as longtime Director Jessica Koenig retires after 12 years of service and Tracy Horodyski assumes the leadership role. Koenig helped guide the library through its post-Hurricane Sandy recovery, expanded programming and strengthened community partnerships, while Horodyski plans to build on that foundation with operational improvements and new initiatives for patrons.

The Summer Gazebo Readings returned to Schoolhouse Green in Oceanside on June 1, welcoming more than 75 attendees for the opening night of the long-running literary series.
