Three Lynbrook Knights of Columbus events coming this September

Posted

The St. Mary’s/Maris Stella Knights of Columbus will host three September events designed to bring the Lynbrook community together while supporting the council’s ongoing charitable and community service efforts. From karaoke and salsa dancing to a friendly dice tournament, the events offer residents several opportunities to socialize and support one of the village’s longstanding service organizations.

Whether you’re an experienced performer or simply looking for a fun night out, the Knights of Columbus will host Karaoke Night on Friday, Sept. 18, from 8 to 11 p.m., at its hall at 78 Hempstead Ave. Guests can enjoy music provided by Top Shelf Karaoke, a cash bar and an evening of entertainment with friends and neighbors. Admission is $15 with advance registration or $20 at the door, and the event is one of several community fundraisers the council hosts throughout the year to support its charitable programs and local outreach initiatives. No singing experience is necessary, giving everyone a chance to grab a microphone, choose a favorite song or simply cheer on other performers. The event offers another way for the council to continue its work in the community.

  •  Roll the dice for a chance to win cash prizes

The council’s LCR Roll the Dice tournament returns Sunday, Sept. 20, beginning at 1 p.m. Participants will compete in the popular Left, Center, Right dice game for a chance to win a $500 grand prize, while second- and third-place winners will receive $250 and $100, respectively. The $25 registration fee includes snacks, soda, water, coffee and dessert, and seating is limited, so advance registration is required. The game is easy to learn, making the tournament open to newcomers as well as those who have played before. The event combines friendly competition with fundraising to help the Knights continue their service to the parish and surrounding community. The afternoon also gives residents another opportunity to gather at the Knights’ Lynbrook hall while competing for one of the three cash prizes.

  •  Learn salsa from a professional instructor

Residents interested in learning a new skill can sign up for a four-week salsa dance series taught by professional instructor Lourdes Cruz. Classes will be held Wednesdays — Sept. 16, 23 and 30, and Oct. 7 — from 7 to 8 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Registration costs $65 per person or $120 per couple, making it an affordable opportunity for beginners and experienced dancers alike to enjoy a fun social activity while supporting the council’s community programming. The four-week format gives several opportunities to learn and practice their moves under Cruz’s instruction. The series also provides a social setting for residents to meet other community members while trying a new activity.
