Money stolen from Geffen Gourmet in Hewlett

An unspecified amount of money was stolen from Geffen Gourmet on Mill Road in Hewlett at 5:15 a.m. on Sept. 14, Nassau police said.

Police responded to the burglary call and the subsequent investigation uncovered that an unidentified man entered the kosher market and eatery by prying open the back door. The money was taken from a cash register. He left through the same back door. His direction was unknown, police said.

The man is described as black, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, had a black-colored face covering, black pants, gray gloves, gray sneakers and a book bag, according to police.
