Students at William S. Covert Elementary School traded in their pencils for dancing shoes as they took center stage to showcase their talents during the school’s annual variety show, held at the South Side Middle School auditorium.

The lively March 18 event featured a wide range of dance performances set to popular hits spanning generations, including “California Girls,” “Born in the U.S.A.,” “Miami,” “Uptown Funk,” and “Living in America.” With colorful costumes, coordinated choreography and enthusiastic energy, students captivated an audience of family members, friends and faculty throughout the evening.

Each grade level brought its own personality to the stage, with routines that blended creativity, teamwork and confidence. From upbeat pop numbers to patriotic-themed performances, the show highlighted not only the students’ dedication during rehearsals, but also their excitement in sharing the spotlight with their peers.

The program ended on a high note as Covert staff members took the stage with a spirited Rockettes-style kickline to Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.” The unexpected finale drew cheers and applause from the audience, capping off a memorable and festive evening.
