Pedestrian critically injured after being struck by SUV in Rockville Centre

Police say 24-year-old man was struck while crossing Lakeview Avenue; investigation continues

A 24-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing an intersection in Rockville Centre on Wednesday morning, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 9:42 a.m. on July 8 at the intersection of North Village and Lakeview avenues.

According to detectives with the Nassau County Police Department's Homicide Squad, the pedestrian was walking southbound on North Village Avenue and crossing Lakeview Avenue when he was struck by a westbound 2024 gray Toyota RAV4 operated by an 84-year-old woman.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, where police said he remains in critical condition.

The driver remained at the scene following the crash, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
