The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center celebrated a memorable milestone by hosting its 25th Community Day with an afternoon of family-friendly activities, entertainment and community spirit.

The Aug. 22 event took place in front of the community center on Centre Avenue from noon to 4 p.m., bringing residents together for an afternoon of fun. Children were at the heart of the celebration, with activities designed to keep them entertained throughout the afternoon. Among the attractions was an inflatable water slide, giving youngsters a chance to cool off while enjoying some summer fun.

The afternoon also featured music and dance performances, including a return appearance by Malikamo and the Band of Soul, adding to the festive atmosphere and providing entertainment for residents of all ages. Families could also enjoy a variety of tasty treats while taking part in the day’s activities.

To accommodate the celebration, North Centre Avenue was closed between Randall Avenue and Maine Avenue, creating space for the event and allowing attendees to gather safely in front of the community center.

Now in its 25th year, Community Day continues to provide an opportunity for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center to bring neighbors together and celebrate the community. This year’s milestone event carried on that tradition with an afternoon centered on family, entertainment and togetherness.
