Bayport tops Seaford for repeat LIC

Seaford became the latest victim in what’s shaping up to be a football dynasty at Bayport-Blue Point.
The Phantoms piled up 410 yards of offense, including 230 on the ground from Daniel Aiello, on the way to repeating as Long Island Class IV champions last Saturday with a convincing 42-20 victory over the Vikings at Stony Brook University’s LaValle Stadium.
Aiello scored three touchdowns, including an 82-yard burst in the final minute of the first quarter to give Bayport a 14-0 lead it took into the second half. Michael Luce had a pair of touchdown receptions as the Phantoms completed a perfect season with win No. 12.
Sophomore Brian Falk and seniors Devin O’Donnell and Aiden Calvacca found the end zone for Seaford, which finished 10-2 and captured its first Nassau County title since 2019.
“Aiello is a great back and I thought they controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides,” Seaford head coach Mike Corcoran said. “I’m proud of guys. They’re county champions which was our No. 1 goal and we lost to a better team today. Give Bayport all the credit.”

The Vikings’ defense forced two punts in the second quarter and the offense came within inches of cashing in points on the ensuing possessions. Falk was stopped on fourth down by an inch — literally — shy of keeping the chains moving at the Bayport 42. Seaford then drove from its 23 to inside the opposing 40 when Aiello intercepted a deep ball at the 10.
“They did a lot of good things that concerned us coming into this matchup,” Bayport head coach Mike Zafonte said. “They’ve got two dangerous backs [Falk and Calvacca] and a quarterback [Tim Navin] with a big arm. I thought we did a nice job executing our offense even after losing one of our top kids [Sean Coffey] in the first quarter with an injury.”
The Phantoms broke things open with a 21-point third quarter, including a 70-yard scoring drive to open the second half. A 51-yard pass from Maclin Keyser to Brady Smith set up Aiello’s 3-yard touchdown run on a direct snap to make it 21-0.
After Falk busted 70 and 4-yard runs to get Seaford on the board, Bayport responded with back-to-back touchdown drives. Luce had a dynamic 29-yard scoring grab and Keyser kept the Phantoms on a roll with a 4-yard scoring run set up by a Luce interception. It was 35-6 after three quarters.
The Vikings, who allowed no more than 14 points in each of their previous 11 games, engineered a pair of scoring drives in the fourth. Navin connected with O’Donnell on a 25-yard touchdown strike early in the final stanza and Calvacca capped his high school career with a late 4-yard touchdown. Falk (133 yards rushing) added the two-point conversion.
Junior Kyle Britton led all Seaford receivers with 59 yards. Falk led the defense with 8 tackles.
