Seaford car fire leads to weapons arrest

Police arrested a Seaford man for  criminal possession of a weapon.

On Feb. 3, at 7:27 p.m., police responded to a vehicle fire on Cedar Street in Seaford. When officers arrived, they witnessed a Chevy work fan engulfed in flames in a driveway, and saw the fire spread to the house. The Wantagh Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames.

Officers and firefighters began to check the house for anyone inside, and saw a large amount of ammunition and assorted firearms in the living room. The owner of the residence, Charles Musarra, 62, was placed under arrest without incident, and police said no injuries were reported.

Musarra is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and was arraigned on Feb. 5 at the First District Court in Hempstead and was issued a summons.
