It snowed across Nassau County this weekend, as houses, businesses and local areas in Wantagh and Seaford started their Martin Luther King Jr. Day with some snow on the ground.
Snow fell across the Tri-State Area on Sunday morning and evening. Though the snow has stopped in New York City, Winter Weather Advisories–which means that drivers can expect to encounter wintry driving conditions on the road–remained in place through 4 a.m. Monday for most Tri-State Area counties, except Ocean in southeastern New Jersey.
The bulk of the Tri-State Area was expected to receive 2-4 inches, with 1-3 predicted for the northwestern suburbs and along the Jersey Shore. On eastern Long Island, a total of up to 5 inches was thought possible.
More snow is to be expected this upcoming week, according to the Weather Channel, as winter storm systems continue to push across the Northern Tier of the country, bringing heavy snow to the Northeast, Great Lakes, and Ohio Valley. Arctic air will surge southward as well, causing temperatures to dive across the eastern half of the country. This, along with strong winds, is expected to create dangerous wind chills for millions.
From Friday into the upcoming weekend, a far-reaching storm is expected to gradually swing out of the Rocky Mountains and into the Plains before barrelling across the eastern United States. Wintry impacts–such as snow and ice–are likely across a large swath of the storm track, according to AccuWeather.
