Myra helped create the Oceanside-based security company Allied Central Station Alarms, Inc. with her husband of 54 years, Carl, and eventually their sons joined the business. She was also a journalist/publicist who fell in love with the publishing world at an early age, selling her first freelance article to "The Woman Magazine" for $5 as a teenager. She served as editor at "Parent's Magazine," was named a Newsday Special Correspondent in 1964 and published over 450 freelance articles.
