Kids of all ages celebrated just being kids at the Rockville Centre’s annual Kids Fest at the John A. Anderson Recreation Center on Sept. 21.
Families were treated to food, games, performances and more. Kids were able to learn about their local police and fire departments and try their hand and games. The Nassau County Police Department even landed a helicopter on the field, giving families the chance to look inside before it took off again.
The Rockville Centre Lions Club also held its annual Duck Pluck, which raised $13,500 — about $450 more than last year. The money the Lions Club raises goes back into Rockville Centre and to charity. They give to the Rockville Centre Community Fund, the museum at The Phillips House, the Youth Council, Little League Challenger Division, Sandel Senior Center’s FOSSI, American Legion and veterans programs, Mercy Medical Center’s Outpatient Diabetes Education Center, Winthrop-University Hospital’s Diabetes Camp, the Guide Dog Foundation, St. Baldrick’s, the Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, Lions Eye Foundation and many more.
