Multi-colored fireworks lit up the sky over the lake behind the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in honor of the Fourth of July on July 1. Thousands of guests watched from their chairs and blankets on the lawn as Nassau County had their annual “Celebrate America” fireworks display, hosted by TD Bank and Fireworks by Grucci.
“Nassau County is excited to honor our nation and celebrate the 4th of July at the ‘Celebrate America’ fireworks show sponsored by TD Bank this Friday,” County Executive Bruce Blakeman said at a news conference ahead of the event.
The event kicked off at 5 p.m. with a concert featuring School of Rock and Captain Jack, a Billy Joel Tribute Band. The fireworks show began at 9:30 p.m. and was simulcasted on WHLI/KJOY 98.3.
Fireworks by Grucci have a long history of Long Island heritage. The company dates back to 1850 in Italy, when the family began experimenting with pyrotechnics. The Gruccis brought the company to Elmont after immigrating to the U.S. in 1870.
