Just two months after its opening, feedback is still pouring in about the Valley Stream skate park off of Sunrise Highway, near the Long Island Rail Road station. Several community members have expressed mixed feelings about the park, and village officials have begun to make some adjustments.

Though Valley Stream’s dog park is still likely a few months from opening, the facility is starting to take shape along a grassy strip by Village Hall. Though some had hopes for a fall opening, it now looks like the park’s debut will be in the spring.

Costume contest in Valley Stream

The Valley Stream Recreation Department hosted it annual costume contest on Oct. 22 at Hendrickson Park. It was open to children of all ages. Judging was on the scariest, funniest and best storybook character costumes.
