1 arrested, 1 sought for backpack theft

Nassau County police arrested a Valley Stream teenager and are looking for another person in connection with the robbery of a backpack that occurred on West Merrick Road in Valley Stream on March 15.

According to police, Kevin DCosta, 19, and another person approached a 17-year-old male victim at 1:48 p.m. and took his backpack. DCosta knew the victim, police said.

DCosta was arrested on Louise Place. He was charged with second-degree robbery and was arraigned on March 16 at First District Court in Hempstead.
