The Garden City office of Rep. Anthony D’Esposito received what Communications Director Matt Capp said was a “threatening call from a member of a public,” in statement about the July 12 incident.

Capp said there was a threat to bomb the office, staff notified police and took the necessary step in line with office protocol.

“Congressman Anthony D’Esposito’s Long Island office received a threatening phone call today at approximately 1:30pm and staff immediately followed protocol and notified local law enforcement as well as the Capitol Police,” Capp stated.

“The Congressman was moved to a secure location, and authorities are engaging in an investigation at this time.  Congressman D’Esposito is grateful to the Garden City Police Department, the Nassau County Police Department, and the Capitol Police for their swift action, and our office will continue to cooperate fully in the ongoing investigation,” Capp added.

Both buildings in Garden City and Washington, D.C. were evacuated. Nothing of a threatening nature was found, police said. D’Esposito was not in any danger and during the investigation was moved to a secure location.

D'Esposition represents the 4th Congressional District which includes South Shore Nassau County communites from the Queens line to Wantagh.
