Suspect arrested for shooting gun at Valley Stream house party

Nassau County Police arrested a Brooklyn man they say fired shots at an East Oxford Street home in Valley Stream early Monday morning. Police say the shooting too place during a house party. No one was hurt.

According to police, 21-year-old Shane Grant, of Logan Street in Brooklyn, attended the party and had an argument with another guest. He pulled a handgun, police say, and fired a shot in the air. Grant then left the scene, fleeing in a beige BMW.

The incident took place shortly before 1 p.m. on May 23. Grant was arrested the following day at Linden Boulevard and Lincoln Street in Brooklyn by detectives from Nassau County's Fifth Precinct.

Grant is charged with second-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was to be arraigned on Wednesday in First District Court.
