Third man arrested in Valley Stream robbery/assault

A third man has been arrested in connection with a robbery that occured in Valley Stream on Feb. 3.

According to Fourth Squad detectives, a 26-year-old male victim was with a male friend, 29, in a Acura, meeting with the defendants in the rear parking lot of 460 Sunrise Hwy. in Valley Stream.

Police said that Willie V. Yelder, 21 of Brooklyn, entered the rear seat of the Acura, where an argument ensued. Yelder then displayed a handgun and stole cash from the first male victim. He then began to strike the victim in the head and torso.

The second defendant, Kalieke E. Harris, 20 of Laurelton, then opened the rear door of the vehicle and began hitting the victim, causing a laceration to his hand with a knife. Police said that the victim was then dragged out of the car and thrown to the ground. Yelder then pointed a gun at the second victim, who was the driver of the car, and demanded his cell phone.

After obtaining the phone, both defendants fled the scene in a Honda driven by defendant Akeem A. Gordon 18, Springfield Gardens.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital for his injuries. All three defendants are charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree, two counts of robbery in the second degree and assault in the second degree.

Yelder was located by detectives on Feb.13 in Queens and placed under arrest. He was arraigned on Feb. 14 at First District Court.

Gordon was located at his residence on Feb. 19 and arraigned on Feb. 20.

Harris was placed under arrest on Apr. 24 in Queens and was arraigned on April 25 at First District Court in Hempstead.
