Community members gathered at Firemen’s Memorial Field for the Village of Valley Stream’s annual Independence Day fireworks show, celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.

“This year, like every year, we know the crowds that gather for our fireworks celebration reflect that spirit of patriotism that unites Americans, whether young or young at heart, established in this country for generations or new to our great community,” Mayor Ed Fare said. “Our enthusiasm reflects our love of freedom and commitment to democracy and our shared joy of living in the greatest nation on earth.”

The event on July 3 featured a concert, a live DJ, children’s activities and food trucks before ending with a fireworks display.

The celebration was sponsored by North Star Auto Body.

Families and friends filled the field to enjoy the annual tradition, which brought the community together to celebrate Independence Day and commemorate America’s semiquincentennial.
