Valley Stream District 24 administrator receives regional distinction

Scott Comis, principal of Brooklyn Avenue School in Valley Stream District 24, was awarded the prestigious Administrator of the Year award by the School Administrators Association’s New York State Region 2, which represents Long Island. Comis was formally honored and presented with the award during the organization’s recognition ceremony at City Cellar in Westbury.

This award honors an administrator in Region 2 who has provided exceptional service to education. Comis was nominated by his colleagues for his significant contributions to education and his outstanding efforts in supporting and developing innovative programs that have improved student learning outcomes.

“Dr. Comis is truly deserving of this incredible honor for his immense contributions to our district and his commitment to ensuring student success,” said Superintendent Unal Karakas. “As an outstanding leader of our district for over 17 years, Dr. Comis embodies the care, nurture, and leadership needed to support our students and staff. Our Board of Education and our entire District are extremely proud of him for achieving this milestone and grateful to the School Administrators Association for recognizing his effort.”
